Although no scar can be removed completely, their appearance can be improved significantly. And because every scar is unique, individual results will vary. The most effective treatment option will depend on the look and severity of the scar, as well as the patient’s skin type.

Laser scar treatment uses light energy to heat the deeper layers of skin, which in turn promotes a healing response. This stimulates collagen production, resulting in remodelling and smoothing of the skin.

Shallow Scars | Laser Genesis

For very shallow scars, and for those patients of darker skin tone, Laser Genesis is often the treatment of choice. This laser procedure is very gentle, and there is no recovery time associated with it. In order to obtain optimal results, Laser Genesis is typically combined with Microdermabrasion, and a series of biweekly treatments is recommended.

Deep Scars | Dermal Filler treatment

For deeper scars, and for those patients of fair to medium skin tone, excellent results can be achieved with our Pearl and/or Pearl Fractional lasers. Recovery time for these procedures is approximately four to seven days, with maximum results occurring in one to three months as the skin continues to produce new collagen in the treated area.

In order to maximize the results of laser scar treatment, we highly recommend the use of Dermastrat cream which will assist in skin renewal of the treated area.

Another option for depressed or indented scars is treatment with dermal fillers. When injected into the scar, fillers can effectively raise the surface of the skin, resulting in a smoother appearance. Since dermal fillers are temporary, the treatment is generally repeated every six to twelve months.
